What Else You Need To Know |

- Discovery Seminars: Every first-year student will enroll in a Discovery Seminar (DSC 101) in the fall semester as the first step in Oxford's signature general education curriculum focused on Discovery, Exploration, and Reflection.
Through a process of ranking your preferences, you will be registered for a Discovery Seminar prior to your arrival on campus in August. By July 15, you must complete the Discovery Seminar preference form to rank the five courses that most interest you.
Note: If you do not complete this preference form by July 15, you will be placed into a Discovery Seminar with an open seat.

- Oxford New Student Orientation: All students are required to register and attend New Student Orientation. Please complete this form by August 1.
New Student Orientation (NSO) for all our first-year students will begin on Friday, August 23, 2024. NSO is designed to welcome you to the Oxford community and make your transition to campus as smooth as possible. Students can invite family and supporters to campus to help them move in. We have a special program for guests on August 23, which will conclude just before dinnertime at 5:00 PM. At that point, we ask family members to depart campus and allow their students to fully engage in the rest of the program.
Please complete the registration form to let us know how many family members and supporters will be joining you and to also request a specific T-shirt size!

- EmoryCard:EmoryCard, the official identification card of Emory University, provides secure, convenient, and efficient access to events, goods, and services all through one card.
All first-year students are required to upload a photo using "MyPhoto," the EmoryCard Services' online photo submission tool. Your EmoryCard photo is now due, so please submit it as soon as possible if you have not already done so. Your card will be produced and distributed to you at move-in or during Orientation.

- Advising Questionnaire: As part of the incoming first-year student checklist, all new students must complete the First-Year Advising Questionnaire. The information submitted by YOU, the student, will be shared with the Advising Support Center and your faculty advisor. Your assigned faculty advisor will also be the instructor of your Discovery Seminar (DSC 101) course. Faculty advisors are trained to work with all students, regardless of potential majors, and they will serve as one part of your advising network at Oxford College and Emory.
During your time at Oxford, your faculty advisor is trained to guide you through the general education program, offer advice and suggestions for academic resources, and support all of your endeavors here. The information you provide in the questionnaire will help your advisor prepare to better assist you as you work together. You will have the opportunity to meet your assigned advisor during New Student Orientation in August. Submission is also encouraged before attending Large Course Planning Sessions hosted by the Advising Support Center. A detailed schedule of pre-registration programs can be found in Module 2 of the Emory Essentials Oxford Edition Canvas course.
The deadline to submit your questionnaire is July 15. Please answer ALL questions and be honest with your answers!

- Required Health Forms: We are still in the process of updating a few of the required health forms. The only forms required to be submitted at this time are the Immunization Form, TB Risk Screen, and the Meningococcal Acknowledgement Form. If you have not done so already, please be sure to complete these forms on your Emory University Student Health Portal as soon as possible so Health Services Staff may review your immunizations. A communication will be sent out when the other forms are ready.
