- Discovery Seminars: Every first-year student will enroll in a Discovery Seminar (DSC 101) in the fall semester as the first step in Oxford's signature general education curriculum focused on Discovery, Exploration, and Reflection.
Through a process of ranking your student's preferences, they will be registered for a Discovery Seminar prior to their arrival on campus in August. By July 15, your student must complete the Discovery Seminar preference form to rank the five courses that most interest them.
Note: If not completed by July 15, your student will be placed into a Discovery Seminar with an open seat.

- Oxford New Student Orientation: All students are required to register and attend New Student Orientation. Your student should complete this form by August 1.
New Student Orientation (NSO) for all our first-year students will begin on Friday, August 23, 2024. NSO is designed to welcome your student to the Oxford community and make their transition to campus as smooth as possible. Students can invite family and supporters to campus to help them move in. We have a special program for guests on August 23, which will conclude just before dinnertime at 5:00 PM. At that point, we ask family members to depart campus and allow their students to fully engage in the rest of the program.

- EmoryCard:EmoryCard, the official identification card of Emory University, provides secure, convenient, and efficient access to events, goods, and services all through one card.All first-year students are required to upload a photo using "MyPhoto," the EmoryCard Services' online photo submission tool. Your student's EmoryCard photo is now due, so please have them submit it as soon as possible if they have not already done so. Cards will be produced and distributed at move-in or during Orientation.

- Advising Questionnaire: As part of the incoming first-year student checklist, all new students must complete the First-Year Advising Questionnaire. The information submitted by your student will be shared with the Advising Support Center and their faculty advisor. Your student's assigned faculty advisor will also be the instructor of their Discovery Seminar (DSC 101) course. Faculty advisors are trained to work with all students, regardless of potential majors, and they will serve as one part of your advising network at Oxford College and Emory.During your student's time at Oxford, their faculty advisor is trained to guide them through the general education program, offer advice and suggestions for academic resources, and support all of their endeavors here. The information your student provides in the questionnaire will help their advisor prepare to better assist them as they work together. Your student will have the opportunity to meet their assigned advisor during New Student Orientation in August.Submission is also encouraged before attending Large Course Planning Sessions hosted by the Advising Support Center. A detailed schedule of pre-registration programs can be found in Module 2 of the Emory Essentials Oxford Edition Canvas course.The deadline to submit the questionnaire is July 15. Please answer ALL questions and be honest with your answers!

- Required Health Forms: We are still in the process of updating a few of the required health forms. The only forms required to be submitted at this time are the Immunization Form, TB Risk Screen, and the Meningococcal Acknowledgement Form.
If your student has not done so already, please be sure to complete these forms on the Emory University Student Health Portal as soon as possible so Health Services Staff may review immunizations. A communication will be sent out when the other forms are ready.
