What Else You Need To Know |
|
|
- Housing: The Spring housing and dining application will open in your MyHousing account October 16, and the deadline to submit your housing application is December 1. Click here for more information about living on campus.
Have questions about housing? Please contact Residential Education & Services at RES@emory.edu. If you have questions about your dining plan, please email dining@emory.edu or Julie Elion at jelion@emory.edu.

- Orientation Week: Save the Date! Spring Start Orientation for all our first-year students will begin after you move in on Friday, January 10, 2025.
Orientation is designed to welcome you to the Oxford community and make your transition to campus as smooth as possible. You'll get the chance to experience traditions like the Oxford Olympics and have opportunities to meet faculty, staff, and students with the guidance of your Orientation Leader. Get ready to meet new friends, try new things, and have some fun!
Students are able to invite family and supporters to campus to help them move in. We have a special program for guests on January 10 which will conclude just before dinnertime. At that point, we ask family members to depart campus and allow their students to fully engage in the rest of the program.
Questions? Please email oxfordorientation@emory.edu.
|
- Required Health Forms: Please remember that the deadline to complete your required health forms is October 1. All forms can be found online and must be completely filled out with appropriate signatures in your Student Health Portal. Your immunization form and TB clearance form must be signed by a healthcare provider by this date. For more information, please visit the Student Health Services page of the Welcome Website.
|
- Advising Questionnaire: As part of the incoming first-year student checklist, all new students must complete the First-Year Advising Questionnaire. The information submitted by YOU, the student, will be shared with the Advising Support Center and your faculty advisor. Your assigned faculty advisor will also be the instructor of your Discovery Seminar (DSC_OX 101) course. Faculty advisors are trained to work with all students, regardless of potential majors, and they will serve as one part of your advising network at Oxford College and Emory.
During your time at Oxford, your faculty advisor is trained to guide you through the general education program, offer advice and suggestions for academic resources, and support all of your endeavors here. The information you provide in the questionnaire will help your advisor prepare to better assist you as you work together. You will have the opportunity to meet your assigned advisor during New Student Orientation in January.
NOTE: If you have already completed this task, no need to resubmit. If you have not completed this task, the final deadline to submit your questionnaire is November 1. Please answer ALL questions and be honest with your answers. If you have already submitted your Advising Questionnaire, you do not need to submit another one!
|
- Discovery Seminar: Every first-year student enrolls in a three-credit Discovery Seminar (DSC_OX 101) as the first step in Oxford's signature general education curriculum focused on Discovery, Exploration, and Reflection. Discovery Seminars allow you to engage in inquiry-based learning with a faculty mentor, who will also serve as your academic advisor, and a small group of other Spring Start students.
There will be six Discovery Seminars in the spring offered on a range of topics. You will receive information about these courses by October 1, and you will be able to submit your preferences to rank your choices (deadline for submitting preferences is October 15). Stay tuned for more info!
|
- Parent Portal: Parents are invited to join our Parent Portal, a hub to access important campus news and deadlines as well as personalized newsletters. Click here to register for access to the portal.
Questions? Please email leadership@emory.edu.
