We hope you are soaking up your last summer before becoming an Emory Eagle. While you are enjoying summer break, the faculty and staff at Oxford are busy preparing the campus just for you.
Here are the most important checklist to-do items for the next two weeks. For more information on these items, make sure you read this newsletter in its entirety and review the Welcome Website.
We understand some test scores will not be released to students until after July 1, so we ask that students request for the testing organization to send scores to Oxford College as soon as their scores have been released. AP/IB credits will continue to be accepted after July 1. However, we cannot guarantee that requests submitted after July 1 will be processed prior to fall course registration in August. Be sure to send the scores directly to Oxford College (not Emory College/Emory University) for quicker processing.
Welcome Webinar:Please join us for our second Welcome Webinar: "Your Oxford Arrival - Move-In, Housing & Orientation 101" scheduled for Friday, July 17 from 12pm to 1:15 pm ET. We’ll discuss:

Please contact leadership@emory.edu with any questions about the welcome webinar!
Housing Assignments: We expect to release housing assignments by 12:00 pm ET July 15. Students will be able to see their Fall 2026 housing assignments by logging in to their MyHousing account. At this time, students will also be able to sign up for a move-in time for August 21.
Have questions about housing? Please contact Residential Education & Services at RES@emory.edu.
International Student Welcome: The International Student Welcome (ISW) Program will take place from August 16-20, 2026. Students who plan to attend the ISW should complete the online 2026 International Student Welcome Registration Form by July 1.
Canvas: By now, all incoming students should have received an invitation to join the Oxford First Year Experience Canvas course. You also should have received a welcome email from your assigned Advising Support Center contact. Once you accept the invitation (sent to your Emory email address), you can log in with your NetID and Password. If you have not logged in to Canvas, be sure to check your Emory email for the course invitation.
Content in these modules provide a detailed overview of Oxford College's General Education Program, academic resources and policies, and information to help students prepare for class registration. Additional content has also been provided for specific placement exams (First-Year Writing, Mathematics, and Arabic), pre-professional academic advising materials, and other helpful campus resources. The Pre-Advising Intake Form and the Language Survey (found in the placement module) are also located in Canvas and should be competed by July 28.
Be sure to follow the First-Year Checklist on the Welcome Website for updates and important deadlines. The priority deadline for all placement exams is July 28.
If you have any questions about the Oxford First Year Experience Canvas course, you can email oxadvising@emory.edu.
Discovery Seminars: Every first-year student will enroll in a Discovery Seminar (DSC 101) course as the first step in Oxford's signature general education curriculum focused on Discovery, Exploration, and Reflection. Now is the time to start thinking about your Discovery Seminar for the fall!
The 3-credit Discovery Seminars are offered on a wide range of course topics and allow you to engage in inquiry-based learning with a faculty mentor, who will also serve as your academic adviser, and a small group of other first-year students. See descriptions of the Discovery Seminars and submit your preferences here.
Be sure to submit your preference form to rank your top choices of Discovery Seminars by July 1. Students who do not submit their preferences by the July 1 deadline will be randomly assigned to a DSC 101 course with open seats.
Ignite Oxford Pre-Orientation:Ignite Oxford Pre-Orientation only has a few remaining spots! If you are unsuccessful at registering before all spots are filled, please use the second link below for our Waitlist Option.
Please note that completing this form doesn't guarantee you a spot in Ignite Oxford. Waitlist students will be contacted on a first-come, first-served basis, should an opening arise. In this case, you would receive an email notification that a spot has opened and will then have one week to confirm your registration.
After July 14, Ignite Oxford Pre-Orientation will stop pulling students from the waitlist and all remaining students will be notified.
Contact leadership@emory.edu with any questions. Thank you to everyone who has registered for Ignite Oxford. We can’t wait to meet you this August!
Oxford Organic Farm: The Oxford campus has an organic farm! Students can be a part of this farm-to-table experience through the work study program, classes, and volunteering.
One theme that holds true on the farm is that the more you give, the more you get. Helping out on the farm means more of our harvest ends up in our dining hall, on the plates of local shoppers, and in local pantries for those in need.
Check out our linktree to see what's happening on the farm and to find ways to get involved!
We are excited to welcome you to the Class of 2030!
Should you need any assistance this summer, please refer to the welcome website for departmental contact information.
