Here are the most important checklist to-do items for the next two weeks. For more information on these items, make sure you read this newsletter in its entirety or check the Welcome Website.
Register for Ignite Oxford Pre-Orientation (fee-based, optional program). Applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis until the program reaches capacity at 90 participant.
Submit 1-20 Request (for international students) by June 5
Register for a parking permitby June 15 if you plan to bring a vehicle to campus ($25 late fee will be charged if registration is completed after this date)
Oxford First Year Experience (FYE) Canvas Course:Hey incoming first-years! You should have received an invitation to join the Oxford First Year Experience (FYE) Canvas course—your go-to hub for everything you need to kick off your time at Oxford College.

Enrolled Student Survey:We are so excited to welcome you to Oxford this coming school year. Please take this 5-minute survey about your experience with Oxford College of Emory University's Office of Enrollment Services to help us better understand your experience of applying and enrolling at Oxford.
Student Parking Permits:If you plan to bring a vehicle to Oxford College, during the fall and/or spring semesters 2026-2027 and have not already registered your vehicle, you should do so here. The deadline to register your vehicle is June 15 to avoid a $25 late fee.
The cost to register your vehicle is $125.00 per semester. The parking permit fee will be billed to your student account as part of the pre-term registration bill. If you plan to keep your vehicle on campus for both the fall and the spring semesters, you should register for both the fall and spring semesters when registering. Student parking permits will be available for pick up during New Student Orientation.Registration does not automatically mean you are approved for a permit. Vehicles on campus that are not approved will be subject to parking violations and could result in the vehicle being towed off campus at the owner’s expense. Parking permits are issued on a first-come, first-serve basis, so apply as soon as possible.

Department for Accessibility Services: The Department of Accessibility Services (DAS) provides accommodations for students with diagnosed disabilities. Students are responsible for initiating the accommodation request process by self-disclosing their disability directly to the DAS office.
To allow adequate time for review and coordination, students are encouraged to submit housing accommodation requests by June 1. Students are also encouraged to submit academic accommodation requests by August 1 to help ensure accommodations can be reviewed and, if approved, implemented prior to the start of classes.

Required Health Forms & Health Insurance Waiver: There is one Emory Student Health Portal for students to complete their health requirement forms and upload their immunization records. In addition to uploading your forms, students must enter all immunization dates on their Student Health Portal per instructions. You must complete all requirements by July 1st on the Student Health Portal which you can access via your OPUS account or using the link.
All students are also required to have health insurance. If you wish to waive out of the Emory University Student Health Insurance Plan, please complete the required online Health Insurance Waiver through your OPUS account by August 1. Please allow 5-7 business days for the verification process to conclude.
Discovery Seminars: Every first-year student will enroll in a Discovery Seminar (DSC 101) course as the first step in Oxford's signature general education curriculum focused on Discovery, Exploration, and Reflection. Now is the time to start thinking about your Discovery Seminar for the fall!
The 3-credit Discovery Seminars are offered on a wide range of course topics and allow you to engage in inquiry-based learning with a faculty mentor, who will also serve as your academic adviser, and a small group of other first-year students. See descriptions of the Discovery Seminars and submit your preferences here.
Be sure to submit your preference form to rank your top choices of Discovery Seminars by July 1. Students who do not submit their preferences by the July 1 deadline will be randomly assigned to a DSC 101 course with open seats.
Placement Testing: Oxford College requires all entering first-year students to complete placement exams for select courses, including First-Year Writing, World Languages, Mathematics, and more. These exams help ensure students enroll in the appropriate level of instruction to support their academic success. Placement exams will be available in Canvas starting June 1 (NOTE: some exams are located in different platforms including ALEKS and Webcape).

The priority deadline to complete all required exams is July 28. If you plan to enroll in a course that requires placement for Fall 2026, please complete your exams by this deadline. For questions, contact the Advising Support Center at oxadvising@emory.edu.
F1 Visas: Will you be studying at Oxford with an F1 international student visa? If so, you will need to pay the SEVIS I-901 fee before you can apply for an F1 visa. Learn more about paying the fee on the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement website . Be sure to attach a copy of the receipt of payment to your I-20 so that you can show proof of payment when you enter the U.S. port of entry.
Ignite Oxford Pre-Orientation:If you’re ready to set in motion your own “OX-perience,” join us at Ignite Oxford Pre-Orientation this August 17-20, 2026!
Ignite Oxford is an immersive 4-day, 3-night optional experience dedicated to building community and belonging among incoming first-year students. The program aims to help incoming students acclimate to Oxford College prior to the start of New Student Orientation.
At Ignite Oxford, you will:
Gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be an Oxford student
Learn about Oxford traditions and student life from upper class mentors
Build relationships and establish a network of support from those who can support and encourage you
Explore the surrounding community
Reflect on your hopes and set goals for the upcoming academic year

Gap Year Request:Oxford College's deadline to defer enrollment, or take a gap year, is June 1. For more information, please review Emory's Deferred Admission Policy.
If you are considering a gap year, review the policy and then submit the deferral request form here. Requests are reviewed by the Director of Admission, and students can expect a response in 7-10 business days.
Typically, gap years are approved for one year, and enrollment is expected in fall 2026. Occasionally two-year gap years are approved for military or religious commitments.
